Project Description
Protecting the environment is an issue that is very important
to a number of people. To others, it is rarely given much thought.
In this project you will think about and discuss your stance on
environmental issues. As you look at the issues, determine
where you stand on the continuum and then compare your views.
The continuum is a 1-10 scale.
Continuum - Unaware (0) --------- (10) Related to Mother Nature
There are 5 activities, each that deal with a different aspect of
environmental awareness. These include social, political, educational,
economic, and philosophical issues.

  Activity 1: Social
    * How willing are you to alter your lifestyle to protect the environment?
* What steps do you or would you take?
* Does human advancement justify the destruction of the environment? Why or why not?

  Activity 2: Political
    * Are governments doing enough to protect the environment?
* What else could or should they do?
* Should there be a government policy that makes it mandatory for industries
to restore ecosystems that have been degraded? Why or why not?

  Activity 3: Educational
    * Are people ignorant about what is happening to the environment at the global level?
* How could they become more aware?
* Do you feel that all nations of the world should be involved in developing
common guidelines for protecting the environment? Why or why not?
* Is it a school's responsibility to educate its students about global
      environmental awareness?
* What other institutions should be responsible for raising awareness on
      environmental issues?

  Activity 4: Economic
    * Should businesses be responsible for restoring the environment after they have
used its resources? Why or why not?
* Is economic gain more important that environmental preservation? Why or why not?

  Activity 5: Philosophical

instead of a general tax for waste disposal for everyone?
