In this project, mentors and students will get to know one another
better by sharing interesting facts about themselves.

Activity 1: A Story Behind Every Name

Were you named after your mother's grandfather? Did your parents
name you after a famous baseball player or movie star? What is the story
         behind your name?

In this activity, mentors and students will share with one another how their first
and middle names were chosen. If you don't know, ask someone who might know.

Or you can create your own story behind your name and share it!

Do you have a nickname? How did that come about? Share that information too! And finally,
if you could choose a new name, what would it be and why? Have fun thinking about your name
and the story behind it!

  Activity 2: Happy Holidays
Is there a special holiday that you anxiously wait for each year? In this activity, mentors and students will choose a holiday that they each really enjoy. Describe to each other all the reasons why that holiday is so special to you. What do you do on that special day? Is there anything that you don't like about the holiday? After you have shared information with each other, compare and contrast your chosen holidays. What similarities can you find? What differences?

  Activity 3: Cook It Up!

Do you or your family have a favorite recipe? What is it? How do you make it? Write down the steps for creating that family favorite. List all of the ingredients as well as the process to make it! Now share some history behind that dish. Did you always have it on your birthday? Is it a secret recipe passed down for generations? Who usually fixes it? What about it do you like so much? Share the information with one another.

  Activity 4: Convince Me!

Do you have what it takes to convince someone else that you are right? Here is your chance! In this activity, you and your mentor will convince each another of something that you feel strongly about. You can use one of the topics below or come up with one of your own!
