While
baseball is often considered America's favorite
pastime,
other sports have become more and more popular.
What sport do you think
should be America's favorite pastime?
Mentors and students should share their choices
-- and the reasons
behind them - with one another!

If
you could select any three athletes to receive medals for greatest
sports figures of all
time, who would you choose and why? Award a gold medal to your top
choice, silver medal
to your second, and bronze medal to your third. Your choices can be
from the same sport or
different sports. Share your choices - and the reasons for them -
with each other. |

"Couch potatoes"
enjoy spending the majority of their time lounging, perhaps with
the television remote in hand, stretched out on the sofa or comfortably
relaxing on the recliner. While relaxing
is definitely necessary, engaging in recreational activities also
is important! In this activity, mentors and students should share
their favorite "couch potato" activities and their favorite recreational
activities. Why do you like them? Would you classify yourself as
a classic "couch potato?"

Is your idea
of a great time to curl up with a good book, play a wild game of
Trivial Pursuit,
or to jog three miles? How do you like to spend your leisure time?
Share with one another what
you like to do most in your spare time. Do you share any similar
interests?

In
this activity, mentors and students should think about how athletes
stay safe while participating
in sports. What measures do you think are most important for athletes
to take before, during and after playing your favorite sport? Mentors
and students should also discuss the various safety measures they
take when participating in specific sports! |

you know where your favorite sport originated? For more information,
visit the website,
Sports Around the World @ Sports

Mentors and students also should find an interesting fact about a
sport that they are less
familiar with and share it with one another. |
